Free Benefit Concert for Survivors on Oct 26

Table of Contents

My name is Sam. I'm an alumni of MenHealing's Weekends of Recovery.

MenHealing is hosting a free online benefit concert called Ripple Effect in just under two weeks– at 4pm PT / 7pm ET on October 26, the day after Male Survivor Awareness Day– featuring the Indigo Girls (!!!) as well as nearly a dozen other survivor artists and allies, including multiple alumni.

Please join us. All survivors and allies are welcome.

This is a benefit concert. We're trying to raise $75,000 to make sure that men who have been sexually harmed get access to the community, skills, and resources they need to heal. If you can, consider making a donation of $25 or more in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Weekends of Recovery (our first one was September 2001, and we're still going!) If you don't have the means, donate $5, or nothing at all.

But if nothing else, please just come enjoy a beautiful evening of music honoring survivors and the connections that keep us afloat. The concert is hosted on Zoom, so you can be anonymous and turn your camera off if you prefer.

Hope to see you there. As Jim always says, together we are stronger.

Warmly,
Sam

P.S. I really can't emphasize enough how beautiful this music is. I have been moved to tears by the videos submitted by our featured artists these past few weeks. We already have 25+ watch parties confirmed across the US, from Washington to Alabama– all in support of survivors. It would be incredibly meaningful to have you with us.

I Write Because I Weep

I’ve always been the kid who sits in the back of the room and wise cracks to the class about the (unspoken) rules that we were expected to abide. It wasn’t about getting attention. It was signaling that I was wise to the charade. That I understood about

Reaching Back to Wholeness

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to heal lately. How do we move to wholeness when sometimes it seems like the views of others are stacked against us? A few months ago, I tore a tendon in my shoulder, maybe from overuse while swimming. Swimming had

Running Into Myself

“Wow! This place is huge! This is gonna be great.” He’s in a onesie. It covers his feet with soft fabric. His excitement propels him. He runs into the house, down the hall, into the kitchen. He makes a sliding stop, changes directions, runs back and to the left,

Seeing Pain, Feeling Connection

We all process the world differently. For those of us who carry deep trauma, things that barely register for others can hit us like a truck. A word, a tone, an image — and suddenly we’re shaken to the core. It’s an echo of old wounds, the lingering touch
